Well, I messed up. I sent all our documents express mail to the NYS Department of State to be
authenticated with an express mail return envelope. I didn't have Steve's birth certificate certified by Erie county because I read somewhere that birth and marriage certificates don't need to be. I don't know, now, where I read that. Somewhere in the hundreds of paper pages that have taken up residence ALL OVER! Maybe I read it on-line, maybe what I read was not even NYS information. At this point I don't care I am just upset that the $29 I paid to have those "expressed" left one document un-authenticated! Of course this document isn't a quick certification that can be done here, no it has to go to Buffalo. WE WERE JUST IN BUFFALO!!! I've all but decided to drive there on Tuesday, so I can send everything to the Chinese Consulate from there to get their 4th authentication.

Then everything goes to the Department of Redundancy Department for their 5th and 6th authentication right? :)
